EAST AURORA — Christ the King Seminary will host a dinner lecture and a retreat this April on the seminary's East Aurora campus.

"The Papacy and the Holocaust" dinner lecture will be presented Wednesday, April 3 from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

Dr. Dennis Castillo, professor of Church History at Christ the King Seminary, will examine the Catholic Church in Europe during the very turbulent times of the 1930s and '40s and will question how the Vatican responded to the Nazi persecution of the Jewish people, and what are lessons can be learned for the world in which we live today.

Dinner begins at 5:30 p.m. in the main dining room, followed by the lecture at 6:30 p.m. The lecture will last approximately one hour, followed by time for questions and additional discussion. The cost is $35 for dinner and the lecture, and $25 for the lecture only. Registration is required and dinner reservations are kindly requested by April 1. Lecture-only reservations can be made up to the day of the event.

A retreat entitled, "Your Intentional 'Yes' May Lead to Sacrifice" presented by Amanda Chacko, M.Div., will take place Friday-Saturday, April 5-6.

Connecting Holy Week, scriptural stories of Mary's "Fiat" (saying yes to God), and participants' own personal spirituality and yes to God, this retreat will offer time to explore each person's own story and the stories of those who have walked spiritual journeys ahead of them. Using time spent immersed in Scripture, small group conversation, and time for journaling and personal reflection, this retreat offers an opportunity for renewal before entering into Holy Week 2019.

The retreat begins at 7 p.m. on Friday and ends at 3 p.m. on Saturday at the seminary's St. Teresa Residence Hall. The cost is $90 for overnight attendees and $50 for commuters. Registration and full payment is kindly requested by April 1.
