Father DiMaria takes on additional parishes

Father Sean E. DiMaria has taken on the additional responsibilities as pastor of Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish, Belmont, and St. Mary Parish, Bolivar, for a term of six years. He previously served as the priest moderator for both parishes. Father DiMaria continues his duties as pastor of Immaculate Conception, Wellsville; Blessed Sacrament, Andover; and SS. Brendan & Jude, Almond-Alfred, making him pastor of half the Catholic parishes in Allegany County. Bishop Richard J. Malone announced the appointment was effective Sept. 1.  

A graduate of Frontier High School, Father DiMaria worked as an installer for a floor covering business and as a machine operator before entering the seminary. He studied at Wadham's Hall Seminary College, Ogdensburg, and graduated with bachelor's degrees in philosophy and religious studies. He finished his studies for the priesthood at Christ the King Seminary, East Aurora, earning a master's degree in divinity in 2004.  

Following his ordination in 2005, Father DiMaria was named parochial vicar at SS. Peter & Paul Parish, Hamburg. In 2008, he was named pastor of SS. Brendan & Jude and Blessed Sacrament. A few years later, he was given additional responsibilities as pastor or Immaculate Conception. 

Clarification - Father Joseph T. Nguyen was named chaplain at Mercy Hospital in South Buffalo for a term of six years. His appointment was effective Sept. 12. Father Nguyen resides at St. Andrew Parish, Kenmore.
