Several local clergy receive new assignments

Father Adolph Kowalczyk remains pastor of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church for a third term of six years. He was named pastor at the Orchard Park parish in 2007. Father Kowalczyk was ordained in 1988 and served as parochial vicar at Nativity of Our Lord and Our Lady of the Sacred Heart parishes, both in Orchard Park, and at Blessed Sacrament, Tonawanda. His first pastorate was at St. Agatha, Buffalo, where he served from 1999 until being named pastor in Orchard Park.  

Father Johnson Machado, who was recently incardinated into the Diocese of Buffalo, has been named pastor of St. John Neumann Parish in Strykersville. Father Machado had been serving as the parish's administrator since 2015. He was ordained in India in 2005.    

The bishop extended Father Daniel Ogbeifun's assignment at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish, Harris Hill, for another year. Initially, he was assigned to the parish in 2015 following his ordination and simultaneously also served as parochial vicar of two city parishes that were linked with Nativity, St. Martin de Porres and St. Lawrence.  

Father Michal Czyzewski, OSPPE, pastor of Buffalo's Corpus Christi Parish has been given the additional responsibility as pastor of St. Stanislaus Parish effective June 24.  

Father Tuan N. Pham, OMI, and Father Juan Manuel Gaspar, OMI, have received assignments in the Diocese of Buffalo. Father Pham was named parochial vicar at Holy Angels, Holy Cross and Our Lady of Hope parishes in Buffalo. Father Gaspar was named director of the Oblate pre-novitiate at Holy Angels.

Two order priests have been given faculties in the diocese. Father Subhashisa Mandal, CM, will pursue doctoral studies at Niagara University and expects to be in the diocese through the end of 2022. He is from the Vincentian Province of North India. Father Francesco Papa, CRSP, will assist at the Basilica of the National Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima in Youngstown. He will be in the diocese until mid-September.
