Bishop Richard J. Malone has announced the following clergy assignments.

Msgr. Salvatore Manganello, J.C.L., S.T.L., was reappointed judicial vicar for the Diocese of Buffalo.  He was first named to this position in 1994. As judicial vicar, he directs the activity of the Diocesan Tribunal, the Church court.  The major work of the Tribunal is to process marriage nullity cases.  In addition to continuing on in the Tribunal, Msgr. Manganello also will remain moderator of the St. Thomas More Guild and chairman of the Diocesan Due Process Committee, all for a term of six years, while continuing as pastor of St. Louis Parish, Buffalo.

Father Peter J. Karalus began his second term of six years as pastor of St. John Paul II Parish, Lake View, on Oct. 5.  The parish was formed in 2011 as a result of the merger of St. Vincent Parish, North Evans, and Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Lake View.  The new parish, utilizing the Lake View church site, was named Blessed John Paul II and, later, St. John Paul II following the late pope's canonization.  Father Karalus began as pastor of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in 2010 and then was named pastor of the merged parish in 2011.

Father Jacek P. Mazur was reappointed pastor of Divine Mercy and St. Mary of the Cataract parishes, both in Niagara Falls, for a second term of six years, effective Oct. 5.  Divine Mercy Parish was formed when St. Stanislaus, Holy Trinity, St. George, Our Lady of the Rosary and Our Lady of Lebanon parishes in Niagara Falls merged in 2008.  Father Mazur was given the additional responsibilities as pastor at Our Lady of the Cataract Parish in 2011.

Father Michael Czyzewski, OSPPE, was named pastor of Corpus Christi Parish, Buffalo, for a term of six years.  He had been serving as the parish's administrator since 2015.  Father Czyzewski is a priest of the Pauline order.

Father Inyong Park was named administrator of the St. Andrew Kim Korean Catholic Community in Tonawanda.  The former administrator, Father Young Su Kim is no longer in the diocese.

Sister Lori High, SSMN, was reappointed pastoral administrator at St. George Parish, West Falls, for a term of three years. Sister Lori was originally assigned to the parish in 2016.  In the Diocese of Buffalo she has worked at the following parishes, St. Joseph University, Buffalo; Queen of Heaven, West Seneca; Annunciation, Elma; and Nativity of Our Lord, Orchard Park.  In addition, she was assigned to Mount St. Mary Academy, Kenmore, and DeSales Catholic School, Lockport.  Sister Lori has also had various positions outside of the diocese.

Bishop Malone also announced that Father Aidan R. Rooney, CM, has been given presbyteral faculties for the Diocese of Buffalo.  Father Rooney, a Vincentian priest, was assigned by his religious superior to serve in campus ministry at Niagara University.

The six men ordained by Bishop Malone in September have begun their first assignments as deacons.  Permanent deacons Kenneth R. Monaco and Edward Birmingham were each assigned a diocesan parish and a ministry of charity assignment; each for a term of three years.

Deacon Monaco now serves at St. Amelia Parish, Tonawanda, and the St. Joseph campus of Sisters of Charity Hospital, Cheektowaga.  Deacon Birmingham serves at SS. Joachim and Anne Parish, Attica, and the Cloister Nursing Home in Warsaw.

Transitional deacons Rev. Mr. Peter N. Bassey, Rev. Mr. Paul S. Cygan, Rev. Mr. Peter Santandreu and Rev. Mr. Gerard Skrzynski were all assigned to parishes while they continue their studies for the priesthood at Christ the King Seminary, East Aurora.  Their assignments are as follows: Deacon Bassey, Annunciation Parish, Elma; Deacon Cygan, St. Joseph Cathedral, downtown Buffalo; Deacon Santandreu, Blessed Sacrament Parish, Buffalo; and Deacon Skrzynski, Nativity of Our Lord Parish, Orchard Park.
