Blessed Sacrament hosts Camerata concert

Father Paul Bossi, pastor of Blessed Sacrament Church, will host the Camerata di Sant'Antonio Chamber Orchestra during a special concert May 17 at the Buffalo church.  Founded in the church of St. Anthony of Padua behind Buffalo City Hall, the strings of the Camerata have been delighting audiences across Western New York with seasonal concerts of distinctive masterworks and exciting premiere performances for over fourteen years.

May's concert, a sampling of Music Director Christopher Weber's favorites, includes an encore performance of Gillaume Lekeu's gorgeous Adagio pour Quatuor d'Orchestre, given its Buffalo premiere by the Camerata in 2008. Mozart's Sinfonia in B flat K.137 and Bela Bartok's Romanian Folk Dances follow, along with an encore performance of the perpetuum mobile Metro Chabacano by Mexican composer Javier Álvarez, previously debuted in Buffalo by the ensemble. The highlight of the program will be the U.S. premiere of Gotthard Odermatt's deliciously lyrical Concerto for Oboe d'amore with soloist Paul Schlossman.

The concert will be on Wednesday, May 17, at 7 pm, Blessed Sacrament Church, 1035 Delaware Avenue in Buffalo.  Tickets $18, off-street parking, post-concert reception donated by The Amberleigh of Williamsville.
