Living out the mission as a community of believers within the greater Lake View community is very clear when looking at the schedule for the weekend lawn fete which begins Friday, July 15.

The Boys of Summer begin the weekend as the group reprises last year's performance from 7 to 11 p.m.  The community influence continues to be evident with the parish co-sponsoring the Lake View Community 5k Family Run at 8 a.m. on Saturday.

Saturday also brings Southtowns Catholic School into the fun, with the unique second annual miniature golf tournament, where a different appetizer and paired drink are available at each of the nine holes. The tournament, called the "Jack MacDonald Nine and Dine Miniature Golf Tournament" was a huge success last year and promises to be even more successful in 2016.

Following the popular Mass "Under the Tent," "The Diva Show Band" will provide entertainment starting at 7 p.m. on Saturday evening.  Standard carnival rides won't be found at St. John Paul II as children from the community are invited to bounce houses and many lawn games created as part of a recent Eagle Scout Project. The bounce houses and games will be available all three days with discounts which help make this a family friendly event.

New to this year's lawn fete in the children's area is a first-ever "Toddler Territory" with free games designed for those 3 years and under. The lawn fete would not be complete without the freshly-cut curly fries and countless food items and basket raffles topped off by the Lancaster High School Carnival Kids Steel Drum Orchestra and Hot Tub Raffle.

A chicken barbecue by Weidner's will also be available on Sunday and all weekend long "Holy Cannolis" will be available through the Ladies of the Altar and Rosary Society.
