Sister Mary Regis Zboch, FSSJ, 1929-2015

Sister Mary Regis Zboch died Oct. 29, 2015, in Hospice Buffalo. She was 86 years old.

The former Emily Marie Constance Zboch was born Sept. 14, 1929, in Detroit, to John and Lottie (Siepierski) Zboch. She joined the Franciscan Sisters of St. Joseph as an aspirant in 1945, became a postulant in 1949 and professed final vows in 1953.

Sister Mary Regis received a bachelor's degree in education from Cardinal Stritch College in Milwaukee, which led her to a 64-year ministry in schools. For 26 years, Sister Mary Regis taught at Immaculata Academy and St. Mary of the Lake, both in Hamburg, as well as at St. Josaphat School in Milwaukee.

She also briefly served as a part-time librarian at St. Mary of the Lake before serving as its full-time librarian for 31 years. Later in her ministry, Sister Mary Regis again assumed a part-time role as a librarian and media specialist in the same school. She retired from active ministry in 2014.

She is survived by a sister, Irene (James) Bergerson; a sister-in-law, Joann Zboch, and her siblings' families.

A funeral Mass was held in the chapel of Immaculate Conception Convent in Hamburg, with burial in St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Cheektowaga.
