Catholic Charities, Gerard Place and Northland Workforce Training Center Join to Host Summer Service Event

Catholic Charities of Buffalo, Gerard Place and Northland Workforce Training Center are teaming up to host East Delavan Summer Service Social Event for residents of Buffalo's East Side. The free community event, slated for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, June 21, will be held in the parking lot across from Catholic Charities' Workforce and Education site at 1001 E. Delavan Ave., Buffalo.

In addition to Catholic Charities, Gerard Place and Northland Workforce Training Center, other local service providers will be on hand to educate and inform attendees of available programs and services. Scheduled to attend the event include: ECMC, Buffalo SNUG Violence Prevention Program, Erie County Department of Social Services, THRIVE Buffalo, Erie County Department of Labor, Buffalo Promise Neighborhood, Delavan Grider Community Center, LeRoy R. Coles Jr. Branch Library, and Catholic Charities Immigration and Refugee Assistance. Catholic Charities will also hold a pop-up food pantry and offer a free hot dog lunch.

Jeffrey Conrad, director of Catholic Charities Workforce and Education, said, "In the last year Catholic Charities, the Northland Workforce Training Center, and Gerard Place have all made significant investments in both infrastructure and programming in Buffalo's East Side. This investment complements the unprecedented growth and investment occurring across the City of Buffalo, and this community event brings awareness to the services and opportunities each agency is bringing to the Bailey, East Delavan and Northland neighborhoods."

Gerard Place provides housing and supportive programs for homeless, single-parent families. Northland Workforce Training Center provides education, training and workforce development services geared toward careers in advanced manufacturing and energy.
