Cardinal O'Hara seniors honored

TONAWANDA — The 2017 Ken-Ton Friends of Youth Shining Stars Dinner, held April 26 at the Tonawanda Castle, awarded grants to seven deserving college-bound high school seniors.

Four of the seven honored students were seniors from Cardinal O'Hara High School. They were Dean Adams, Grace Muscarella, Jake Adams and Nicole Caputi.

Dean Adams was awarded the Sean Patrick Scott Memorial Scholarship to O'Hara and has been team manager and game announcer for boys varsity basketball, team manager for varsity football and team statistician for girls varsity basketball. He has been named to the O'Hara honor roll and recently received the Buffalo News/BCANY award for outstanding job reporting and promoting high school sports. He is also a volunteer with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Muscarella is a member of the varsity softball and cheerleading teams and is a member of the school orchestra. Outside of school, Muscarella is a volunteer at St. Luke's Kitchen, St. Vincent DePaul Society, her parish's vacation Bible school and is an altar server at her church. She also works part-time at Tim Hortons.

Jake Adams is a member of the honor roll and received the President's Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement. He is a member of the JV baseball team. Outside school, he participated in the Light the Night Walk, sponsored by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. He works part-time at Delta Sonic.

Caputi is a member of the O'Hara yearbook staff, Master Minds Club, Science Olympiad, high honor roll and the National Honor Society. Outside of O'Hara, she is a volunteer teacher at St. Amelia's vacation Bible school and a representative to the Town of Tonawanda WNY Youth Leadership Forum.
