Year of Healing events in Tri-County Vicariate begins

The Year of Prayer and Healing in the Diocese of Buffalo comes to the Tri-County Vicariate in June, beginning with an opening Mass at 7:30 a.m. Monday, June 3, at St. Aloysius Church in Springville, followed by an all-day adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and 7 p.m. prayer service.

Father Mitch Byeck, OMI, vicar forane of the vicariate, said all parishes in the area are invited to the 7 p.m. prayer service on June 3. During the service, representatives in the vicariate will be given a purple candle and prayer card to take back to their home parishes for display. The Diocese of Buffalo began a special Year of Prayer for the healing of victims of clergy sexual abuse and for the Church.

In addition, each parish in the vicariate will commemorate the Year of Prayer and Healing during the month of June. Those events that have already been scheduled include:

Eucharistic adoration on June 7 at St. Joseph Church in Gowanda

Eucharistic adoration on June 7 and special intentions for abuse victims made during the Prayer of the Faithful every Sunday at St. Joseph Church in Holland.

Eucharistic adoration every Thursday and Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at St. Mary Church in Arcade.

Prayers after daily and weekend Masses, Eucharistic adoration on June 7, and Divine Mercy chaplet from noon to 2 p.m. on Thursdays at Epiphany of Our Lord Parish in Langford.
