Father Stanislaw Dudek, a Polish-born priest who served the Diocese of Buffalo for over 10 years, died June 24, 2018.  

Born May 25, 1937 in Laczki Brzeskie, Poland, Father Dudek was educated in his homeland and colleges and universities throughout the United States. He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Sandomierz, Poland on June 16, 1962. He spent the next four years as assistant pastor in various parishes in Poland, then moved to Rhode Island. After a year he returned to Poland, only to come to the United States again. He served in North Dakota; Monterey, Calif.; Brisbane, Australia and Salt Lake City, Utah, before coming to the Diocese of Buffalo in 1999. Locally, he served at St. Hyacinth Parish in Dunkirk, then as administrator of St. Joan of Arc Parish in Perrysburg and St. John Fisher Parish in South Dayton. He was named pastor of those parishes in 2006 after being incarnated into the diocese. In 2008, he retired. He is also known for his work with Hispanic Catholics in the Dunkirk area.

Father Dudek is survived by his brother Ryszard, and sisters Janina Pieniek, Emilia Koleczko and Henryka Dudek. His is predeceased by his parents Jan and Anna Dudek.

A wake service will be held Tuesday, June 26, from 4 to 7 p.m. at St. John's Funeral Home. Viewing will also be available at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, June 27 at St. Stanislaus Church in Buffalo. A funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. celebrated by Bishop Edward M. Grosz.
