Seminary to host lecture on the Holocaust

EAST AURORA — A lecture on "Remembering the Holocaust: Continuing Ethical and Spiritual Challenges" will be held on Friday, Oct. 27, in the Main Dining Room of Christ the King Seminary, 711 Knox Road.

The lecturer, Father John T. Pawlikowski, OSM, Ph.D., is professor emeritus of Social Ethics and former director of the Catholic-Jewish Studies Program at the University of Chicago. A leading figure in the Christian-Jewish dialogue, he was the two-term president and chair of the Theology Committee of the International Council of Christians and Jews. He also has served as the principal theological consultant for the U.S. Catholic bishops' statement on energy.

Father Pawlikowski serves on numerous advisory boards and councils, including the board of directors of the Parliament of the World's Religions. He also was a member of the Vatican Delegation for the International Jewish-Catholic Dialogues in Baltimore (1992), Jerusalem (1994), and New York (2001).

He is the author/editor of more than 15 books. He is also a contributor to many journals and has served on the editorial boards of numerous publications. In 2014, he was the recipient of the prestigious John Courtney Murray Annual Award for significant contributions in the field of Catholic Theology from the Catholic Theological Society of America.

The lecture continues the annual Father Thomas Dailey Lecture Series in Christian Ethics and Spirituality. No registration necessary, but free will offerings are welcome.
