Father Raymond F. Uschold, a retired diocesan priest, died April 26, 2017, at Elderwood Skilled Nursing in Amherst. He was 87 years of age.

He was born March 25, 1930, in Buffalo, to Francis H. and Barbara M. (Wagner) Uschold. He attended Buffalo Technical High School and St. Paul's College in Washington, D.C., before furthering his education at Christ the King Seminary at St. Bonaventure University and St. John Vianney Seminary in East Aurora. Father Uschold was ordained in 1964 at St. Joseph New Cathedral in Buffalo.

In 1964, he served in a missionary apostolate at St. Elizabeth Parish in Cherry Creek. The following year, he became an assistant pastor at Coronation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish in Buffalo.

From 1967-77, Father Uschold served in the same capacity at Our Mother of Good Counsel in Blasdell, Nativity of Our Lord in Orchard Park, All Saints in Buffalo, Mother of Divine Grace in Cheektowaga, Holy Name of Jesus in Buffalo, St. Peter in LeRoy and St. Joachim in Buffalo.

In 1979, he became pastor of St. Mary Parish in Bolivar, and in 1989, he was assigned to serve as pastor of Blessed Sacrament in Delevan and Holy Family in Machias. He retired in 2004.

Father Uschold served in the Air Force as an airman first class, and was a fourth-degree Knight of Columbus. He was also involved with Jesus Caritas, Cursillo and Kairos in the diocese.

He is survived by two brothers, Richard and David, and a sister, Ruth Liszewski.

A funeral Mass was held at Our Lady of Victory Basilica in Lackawanna, with burial in United German and French Cemetery in Cheektowaga.
