Joining efforts and resources, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Buffalo, Amigone Funeral Home and Catholic Cemeteries will provide a memorial service and burial for baby Bernadette, an abandoned deceased baby.  Buffalo's Bishop Richard J. Malone will be the presider at the memorial service on Monday, Feb. 27, at 2 p.m. at Amigone Funeral Home, 1132 Delaware Ave., Buffalo.

Following the memorial service, Father Jeffrey L. Nowak, parochial vicar at St. Vincent de Paul Parish, Niagara Falls, will preside at the burial of baby Bernadette in Mount Olivet Cemetery, 4000 Elmwood Ave., Kenmore.

This is the second time diocesan Office of Pro-Life Activities Director Cheryl M. Calire has been given guardianship of fetal remains.  In March 2015, a prayer service and burial were held for baby Jesse to assure the remains of the baby were treated with respect and given an appropriate burial since no family member came forward to do so.  This year, Calire was contacted by Erie County to assume guardianship of the baby she named Bernadette who was found in Buffalo.

All are welcome to attend the memorial service and burial.
