Visitors to Catholic Cemeteries of Buffalo are encouraged to share their thoughts and remembrances of their mothers by signing banners which are mounted near entrances to six cemeteries, with the words, "Happy Mother's Day."

"Mother's Day is the busiest day of the year at all of our cemeteries," said Carmen Colao, diocesan director of Catholic Cemeteries.  "We're always impressed with the thoughtful tributes that our families share about their mothers who have been laid to rest in our cemeteries."

Felt-tipped pens hang from each of the signs, allowing family members to pen their sentiments.

Similar banners will also be placed in Catholic Cemeteries of Buffalo for Memorial Day and Father's Day.

The banners can be found at Mount Olivet Cemetery (Kenmore), Holy Cross Cemetery (Lackawanna) Holy Sepulchre Cemetery (Cheektowaga), Gate of Heaven Cemetery (Lewiston), Queen of Heaven Cemetery (Lockport) and St. Adalbert Cemetery (Lancaster).

"These unique banners have become an enduring tradition at our cemeteries as we offer our families another way to remember and honor their loved ones," Colao said.
