March for Life in Washington, D.C.
March for Life in Washington, D.C.

Bishop Richard J. Malone, along with other representatives from the Buffalo Diocese and hundreds of thousands of Catholics from across the nation, will join in solidarity in the March for Life in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 21- 22, 2016. This pilgrimage of public witness, penance and prayer is a powerful stand against the 1973 Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion.

The March for Life is a time to gather together to pray and publicly intercede on behalf of the unborn, their parents, families, communities, the nation and its leaders, that this prayerful presence may open hearts, minds and souls to the fullness of the Gospel of Life in people's lives and laws, healing the wounds of abortion.

Bishop Malone will attend the Mass at the D.C. Armory on Jan. 22 in Washington, D.C., with youth groups from the diocese. The keynote speaker will be Kathryn J. Lopez. Lopez is the current editor-at-large of National Review Online. Her work has appeared in The Washington Times, The National Catholic Register, Our Sunday Visitor and The Human Life Review, among other publications.

A proponent of pro-life, marriage and family issues from a Catholic perspective, Lopez often writes on bioethics, religion, abortion, education and politics. She has appeared on CNN, C-SPAN, the Fox News Channel and MSNBC, and is a frequent guest on radio and TV shows, including Vatican Radio.

Buses will depart on the morning of Thursday, Jan. 21, from various locations. Visit the Office of Pro Life Activities website at buffalodiocese.org/prolife for bus locations and prices.
Buses will arrive at Washington Plaza Hotel at 3 p.m., in time to attend the 6:30 p.m., National Vigil Mass at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.

Those who wish to make reservations directly may call the Washington Plaza Hotel at 202-842-1300 or 800-424-1140 and mention the Diocese of Buffalo. Those participating can also book a room online directly at www.washingtonplazahotel.com. Registration must be completed before Dec. 20.

Participants may also make a reservation or become a sponsor by either calling or sending an email. Prayerfully consider being a sponsor by making a donation to help ensure the right to life is afforded for all, born and unborn.
