The St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute Visual and Performing Arts Department is proud to announce that "Damn Yankees" will be presented the weekend of March 6-8.

Featuring students from St. Joe's and young ladies from area high schools, the play is directed and co-produced by St. Joe's Alumnus Paschal Frisina III '96.  "DamnYankees" is a musical comedy set during the 1950s in Washington, D.C., during a time when the New York Yankees dominated Major League Baseball. It humorously looks at how far a fan of the Washington Senators might go to help his team win.

Performances will take place at Buffalo State College's Rockwell Hall Performing Arts Center at 1300 Elmwood Avenue, Buffalo, NY on Friday, March 6th at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, March 7th at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday, March 8th at 2 p.m.

According to Catherine Ward, co-producer and department chairperson, "We chose Damn Yankees to help us get the whole student body involved. Athletics play such an important role in the lives of our students, so we believe a stage play about baseball will attract them to the production. There are also many important life lessons to be learned about being loyal to your family, your team and yourself!"

The actors, technical staff and stage crew that created the play's set are from schools around Western New York including St. Joe's, Christian Central Academy, Leonardo da Vinci High School, Mount St. Mary Academy, Buffalo Seminary, Sacred Heart Academy and Nardin Academy. One student is homeschooled.

Tickets for "DamnYankees" are on sale now at $20, $15 and $10 depending on seat location. St. Joe's students pay $5 with proper school ID. Tickets are available for purchase in the St. Joe's Main office during the school day. For further information, please call (716) 874-4024.
