St. Christopher School Media Lab program has been completely revamped and features the new learning platform "Google for Education."

Every student uses 1:1 Chromebooks and the seventh and eighth-graders each have their own iPad device for around the clock educational use and support. A new Airprint laserjet printer allows upper grade students to print directly from the iPads. The media lab is headed by Glory Fox. Her vision to make everything wireless at the school has come to fruition.

This is St. Christopher School's third year being a STREAM school. The school offers a computer science curriculum that encourages students to develop a passion for science, math and technology.

Starting in kindergarten, students learn the fundamentals of coding and gain confidence because the technology is weaved into every subject. The media lab has a special area feature that includes a green screen backdrop that is used for broadcasting and stop-motion animation.

One of the new concepts is robotics that fuses engineering and coding, along with virtual reality; and augmentation.

Due to the generosity of the Dykes family as well as a financial contribution from Fox, the school now has a 3-D printer that showcases the CAD (computer aided design) software program. Using programs like TinkerCAD, Sketchup and Fusion 360 fifth- through eighth-grade students are taught design and sketching.

The St. Christopher open house is Wednesday, Jan. 30 from to 8 p.m.
