The Western New York Catholic continues to foster faith through its coverage of Pope Francis, Bishop Richard J. Malone, stories and columns.  The diocesan newspaper is a strong upholder of faith and morals during a time that is still facing attacks against religious freedom.  According to statistics, print remains the communications backbone in reaching Catholics who attend Mass regularly.

Because of the hostile environment the Church faces with such things as attacks on the sanctity of life and the long-held traditions on the sanctity of marriage between one man and one woman, the need for an informed Catholic voice is greater than ever. The Western New York Catholic brings the words and teachings of Pope Francis to Catholics in the diocese.

Pope Francis has recently spoken on the importance of the family and providing better pastoral care to help parents foster faith in raising children. The pope also spoke about transforming lives by remaining close to Jesus and living by following His example.
Coverage of Pope Francis' teachings and exhortations help Catholics remain strong in their faith and help deal with an increasing secular society that looks to decrease the Church's influence and mission. The Western New York Catholic also provides the words, insights and encouragement of Bishop Richard J. Malone to Catholics in the diocese.

Bishop Malone's monthly column provides an important source for what is happening in the Church and in the diocese. He keeps Catholics apprised of important issues, such as support for life, education, marriage and religious freedom.

Coverage of the many activities of the parishes in the diocese has always been one of the standards of the paper. The diocesan newspaper brings the life of the diocese to readers as it highlights what Catholics from parishes throughout the diocese are doing and who they are helping.

Over the past year, the Western New York Catholic newspaper has increased efforts to work closely with the Western New York Catholic website.

The wnycatholic.org website has received a major upgrade which is more mobile-friendly and contains much more information and content. The website is updated daily and highlights Bishop Malone's current visits to parishes and schools, special Masses and other activities throughout the diocese.

The Western New York Catholic will strive to continue to bring that sense of faith through articles that are useful as well as uplifting.
