KENMORE — Mount St. Mary Academy is hosting an open house for prospective students in grades five through eight and their parents on Sunday, Oct. 4 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Monday, Oct. 5 from 5 to 7 p.m. The event will allow guests to experience the school's academic and co-curricular programs, as well as learn about scholarships and financial assistance.
The annual open house will be smaller, more personalized, and executed with the utmost safety precautions this year. To maintain social distancing, follow state and local health guidelines, and ensure the safety of all attendees, reservations will be required. Families may choose the date and time that work best for them at www.msmacademy.org/openhouse. Families who prefer to tour virtually may do so at www.msmacademy.org/admissions/virtual-tour/.
In 2019, Mount St. Mary announced that it would no longer offer New York State Regents exams as its form of final assessment, opting instead for robust, comprehensive assessments that include capstone projects, written reports, group presentations, research papers, as well as traditional examinations. The school opened to full-day, in-person learning for its students for the 2020-21 school year.
Mount St. Mary Academy offers rigorous coursework in a nurturing setting. Students may challenge themselves with Advanced Placement, Dual Enrollment or Honors-level coursework, engage in the school's award-winning entrepreneurship program, participate in one of the 21 different sports teams or robust Fine Arts program, or join one of dozens of clubs and activities. Small class sizes, personal attention and opportunities for spiritual and personal growth are among the school's hallmarks.
Mount St. Mary has a long tradition of academic excellence and can boast of a 100 percent college placement rate, with members of the Class of 2019 and 2020 earning an average of $253,000 each in college scholarships. Students benefit from 100,000-square-feet of learning space and a student to faculty ratio of 8:1.
