Bishop Malone extends congratulation to new Bishop-elect of Syracuse

Bishop Richard J. Malone, bishop of Buffalo extends his prayers and congratulations, and those of the faithful of the Diocese of Buffalo, to Bishop-elect Douglas J. Lucia upon his appointment by Pope Francis as the 11th bishop of Syracuse. Bishop-elect Lucia is a graduate of Christ the King Seminary, East Aurora, N.Y., in 1989 and has served the Diocese of Ogdensburg in many capacities as a priest. Bishop Malone looks forward to working with him in episcopal leadership in the New York State Province. Bishop Malone also extends his best wishes and thoughtful prayers to Bishop Robert Cunningham upon his retirement and the people of the Diocese of Syracuse as they prepare for this time of transition guided by the Holy Spirit.
