As we age, falls become an ever-increasing risk to our independence and overall health. Join licensed occupational therapist, Darcie Bittner from Catholic Health, as she discusses common fall hazards and what you can do to prevent accidents at home. Guardianship Elder Abuse - Wednesday, May 15, 1:00pm - 2:30pm
Having the right person care for aging loved ones is extremely important. According to the National Institute on Aging, each year, hundreds of thousands of adults over age 60 are abused, neglected, or financially exploited. Join attorney Robert Friedman, as he discusses elder financial abuse and the role Mental Hygiene Article 81 Guardians, banks and Court Evaluators play in protecting seniors. He'll also discuss how to petition for guardianship, the guardian's powers of responsibility, and how to prevent elder abuse. Light refreshments will be provided. Incidents of fraud are on the rise as scammers' tactics become more complex. Sonja Jensen-Schell, Financial Advisor, Edward Jones, will discuss how to spot fraud, what to do if you or a loved one are targeted, and what you can do to protect yourself.
