Third annual 'Burgers, Brews and Blues' set for Aug. 14

WILLIAMSVILLE — The Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities will host their third annual "Burgers, Brews and Blues" summer fundraiser on Tuesday, Aug. 14 at St. Mary of the Angels, 201 Reist St., in Williamsville. Event proceeds will benefit the sisters' important ministries throughout Western New York and beyond.

The evening's activities will begin with a social hour starting at 5 p.m., followed by a gourmet BBQ dinner - also featuring hot dogs and sausages from Wardynski Meats - at 6 p.m. Live music by the Black & Blues Band, with Don Petrino on guitar and lead vocals, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Formed in 2011, the Black & Blues Band is recognized as one of the Buffalo area's hardest-working blues, funk and classic rock cover bands.

Once again 12 Gates Brewing Company will provide the brew. Established in 2015 and located in Williamsville, 12 Gates is an independent, craft-production brewery that produces high-quality, hand-crafted beers.

Caputi's Wine and Liquor Store will provide wine. Caputi's is located at 3015 Sheridan Drive in Amherst.

The Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities is a congregation of 387 vowed women religious. The community was formed when several smaller orders of Franciscan sisters in Central and Western New York, downstate New York, Pittsburgh and Hawaii merged in 2008.

The sisters have served in the Diocese of Buffalo for more than 155 years. The sisters have been involved in a variety of ministries including education and religious education; health care; care of the elderly, dying and homeless; pastoral care; social services; justice education; the missions; retreat and prayer ministry; assisting refugees and immigrants; and the environment.
