It's the time of year again when the Legion of Mary looks forward to it's annual Marian consecration of active and auxiliary members called the "Acies." Acies is a Latin word meaning army ranged in battle array, which describes the Legion of Mary as they assemble all together to renew their dedication to the Most Holy Virgin Mary and receive from her, strength and blessing for the upcoming year's battles with the forces of evil.

On Sunday, April 15, at 1 p.m. the Acies will be held at St. Anthony Church, located at 417 Commercial St. in Farnham. A hymn, opening prayer and rosary will be followed by a procession with individual consecrations and a general consecration. The homilist will be Father James Fliss, pastor of St. Anthony. Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament will be included. Following this celebration, the members will share refreshments in the church basement. Everyone is asked to bring a dish to pass.

Devotion to the Blessed Mother is central to the Legion of Mary. It consists of union and dependence on her and a wholehearted effort to accomplish her designs for the Church and the world. Mary is a special help to legion members. She helps them and all who call upon her with trust, to practice a virtuous life, gives them an ardent zeal for souls, and a desire to pray the rosary more faithfully. Anyone coming to Mary will have a more fruitful life by far.
