St. Francis of Assisi hosts opioid seminar

St. Francis of Assisi Church in Athol Springs is hosting a free seminar on recognizing and treating opioid abuse on Tuesday, May 10. The seminar, sponsored by the Buffalo Police Department, will teach participants on recognizing the signs and symptoms of an opioid overdose, how to properly administer narcan for reversal and what to do next.

All participants who successful complete the training will receive a kit containing two free doses of naloxone. Participants must be 16 years old or older.

The class is set for 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, at the St. Francis Assisi Church Social Center, 4263 St. Francis Dr., Athol Springs. Organizers are asking participants to register by May 2 by calling 716-627-2710. If there are fewer than 20 people pre-registered for the class, it will be cancelled and the participants will be notified.
