Sister Mary Ann Schutz, OSF, 1930-2015

Sister Mary Ann Schutz, previously known as Sister Timothy, died Nov. 28, 2015, in the Sisters of St. Francis Health Center in Stella Niagara. She was 85 years old.

Sister Mary Ann was born March 12, 1930, in Buffalo. She was the daughter of Raymond and Helen (Brown) Schutz. She joined the Sisters of St. Francis of Penance and Christian Charity in Stella Niagara in 1949, professing final vows in 1952. Sister Mary Ann received a bachelor's degree in education from Rosary Hill College, now Daemen College in Amherst.

She taught elementary school students at St. Benedict, St. Joachim and St. Lawrence Schools in Buffalo, and St. Peter School in Lewiston. She also taught high school at Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart. She also served at Stella Niagara Education Park, and at schools in Ohio and New Jersey.

For 16 years, Sister Mary Ann served in the parish office of St. Benedict in Eggertsville, also assisting in the shared services department of the order in Stella Niagara. She retired in 2007.

She is survived by a sister, Marjorie (Ronald) Ahrens.

A funeral Mass was held in the sisters' chapel in Stella Niagara.
