This past June and July, we had the privilege of having a speaker and teacher from the Diocese of Providence, R.I., on three different occasions. Silvio Cuéllar is the director of the Office of Hispanic Ministry in the diocese and the editor for the Hispanic paper, El Catolico de Rhode Island. He is also a musician and songwriter for Oregon Press Publication. He met with Hispanic families from around our diocese to teach them how to use the Scripture study he put together for families, named "Creating Families of Peace and Love."

Cuéllar wrote "Seven ways to Keep Jesus in the Center of your Family" for his paper. The first thing that he suggests for families is to keep Sundays as the day for the Lord. Attend Mass every Sunday together as a family and always remember to give thanks to the Lord our God for all that you have received. For those in the family who can, receive Holy Communion on at least a weekly basis.

His second suggestion is a saying that many of us have heard, that the family who prays together, stays together. He highly recommends that we pray together as a family, whether it is a prayer that we share around the dinner table with the family, always giving thanks to the Lord our God, or saying a traditional prayer together like the rosary. It could also be more spontaneous prayer, where family members could just pray%2
