New religious order priests assigned to diocese

Bishop Richard J. Malone announced the following appointments regarding religious order priests.

Father James Chia, OdeM, and Father Justin A. Freeman, OdeM, were named parochial vicars at Our Lady of Mercy Parish, LeRoy.  Both Mercedarian fathers, Father Chia and Father Freeman come to the Diocese of Buffalo from Florida and Ohio, respectively. Father Chia had served as parochial vicar at St. Jude the Apostle Cathedral in the Diocese of St. Petersburg, Fla.  Father Freeman, who worked in the Diocese of Cleveland, Ohio, since 2011, previously served as chaplain at Cleveland's MetroHealth Medical Center. 

Father Joseph J. Kamiensky, SJ, a priest of the Jesuit order, was named parochial vicar at St. Michael Parish, Buffalo.  A native of Jersey City, N. J., Father Kamiensky served in Buffalo before when he was an instructor at Canisius High School prior to moving to the Bronx to teach at Fordham Preparatory School. 

Father Michael J. Monshau, OP, was assigned to Christ the King Seminary, East Aurora, where he has joined the faculty.  Father Monshau, a Dominican order priest, also taught at Kenrick-Glennon Seminary in the Archdiocese of St. Louis, as well as at the Pontifical University at St. Thomas Aquinas in Rome, Italy.
