As a celebration of National Nutrition Month, Trocaire College will once again host a Nutrition and Wellness Fair to be held on Wednesday, March 25 from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm on the college's Main Campus, 360 Choate Avenue in South Buffalo.

National Nutrition Month is a nutrition education and information campaign created annually in March by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.  This year's theme, "Bite into a Healthy Lifestyle," encourages participants to adopt a healthy lifestyle that is focused on consuming fewer calories, making informed food choices and getting daily exercise in order to achieve and maintain a healthy weight, reduce the risk of chronic disease, and promote overall health.

Freshmen students of the Nutrition and Dietetics program will promote a variety of nutrition concepts through tabletop displays, brochures that they have designed, interactive activities, and a "bite" to taste for every visitor.  Senior students will be hosting a Used Cookbook Sale to raise funds to attend the NYS Dietetics Conference in Albany, NY.  Over 300 paperback and hardcover cookbooks will be available for purchase at a great price.

Senior Massage Therapy students will be providing mini back, neck, and shoulder massages as well as reflexology (foot massages).  Massage is a powerful form of alternative medicine that can be adapted to provide relief from many conditions, injuries, and illnesses.  Both the Massage Therapy and Nutrition and Dietetics programs represent the "Wellness Programs at Trocaire College" and embody the growing trend of positive lifestyle intervention.

Members of the Trocaire College Wellness Committee will also be present at an information table providing tips for maximizing healthy lifestyle habits and ways to improve your overall well-being by making small changes.  Alisha Taggart-Powell noted, "As chair of the Trocaire Wellness Committee, I am excited to participate in this event that will increase awareness of healthy lifestyle changes."  Members will also distribute healthy snacks and nutritional recipes.

This event is sponsored by the Nutrition and Dietetics and Massage Therapy programs and the Wellness Committee at Trocaire College.  Attendance at the Nutrition and Wellness Fair is free and open to the public.
